Why can’t people be honest?

May 29th, 2008 : Experience · Life

I feel bad for owners when their business fails. Especially for restaurants as it is a tough life with very long hours. But they could be honest rather than put up signs like this:

Closing - Thanks for your Patronage

How do you know they are not actually closed for renovations????

@karens: Thanks for your comment - I can’t tell you how many times in NYC one goes past what was a nice restaurant and there is this exact sign. Six months later - as is the case here - the same sign is there and through the window one can see that there is no work going on. And then you see the “for rent” sign. It sucks. Be honest . Just saying thanks for your patronage is enough of a hint to know the truth.

I agree with Karens - have you lost your sense that people tell the truth?
